Our Winemaker: Adrian Manspeaker

Adrian grew up in the fog shrouded coast of northern California, Humboldt County—a patchwork of micro-climates that reflects the variety of challenges and rewards of winemaking. It’s a down-to-earth place that’s deeply embedded in every aspect of Adrian’s being. He moved to Sonoma County and discovered his interest in wine—the evolution from vineyard to barrel to bottle. His viticulture studies brought him to UC Davis’s extension program.

Adrian has served as winemaker for the award-winning winery Joseph Jewell since 2006. His wife, Lily, is an integral part of their winery, adding a warm, collaborative spirit.

We got to know Adrian when he bought our Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes for Joseph Jewell, and his elegant winemaking led to our partnership. His excellent taste, deep knowledge, and generosity of spirit combine with quality Slusser Ranch grapes to produce outstanding Russian River Valley Chardonnay, Rosé of Pinot Noir, Old Vine Zinfandel, and Primitivo.
